  1. Unique History

The name of this village is taken from an old burial site in the village, which is called Watu Nggene. Watu Nggene is a historical site which is the burial place of the ancestors of the Seso people who died during an inter-tribal war against the Ngada and Nagekeo tribes from Ngada Regency. The people buried in the Watu Nggene cemetery are warlords and warriors who bravely defended their territory from enemy attacks. One of the famous troop leaders named Nggene is also buried in this place. Thus this burial complex is referred to as the Watu Nggene cemetery.

        Watu Nggene is located in Kota Komba District, East Manggarai Regency. To go to Watu Nggene Village, it can be reached within 5 hours from the city of Labuan Bajo, or 1 trip from Borong City, the capital of East Manggarai Regency.

             Tourists can see and enjoy the beautiful scenery of Padang Mausui, with green grass and wild horses. In addition, tourists can enjoy the beautiful view of Mbolata Beach against the backdrop of Mount Inerie in Ngada Regency.

There are several activities that tourists can do in this village, including swimming and surfing at Mbolata Beach, learning some woven from pandan leaves, photos and videos (pre-wedding photos and videos are perfect for this place) in Padang Mausui, planting rice with local farmers.

If you choose to stay overnight, you will be provided with a place to stay that will certainly make you comfortable and the location of the accommodation is in a community house. Apart from that, tourists can also choose a place to stay at Mbalata Beach Cottage Inn and a guest house located in Watu Nggene.
